    Waarom zou je jezelf beperken tot auto's, gezien de concurrentie met de stekkerauto?

    Als je met 1 of 2 bedrijven wilt beleggen in waterstof, kan je ook breder beginnen met iets op het gebied van opwekking (productie, opslag, distributie) en/of bedrijfsmatig/industrieel gebruik. Hierbij zou je bijvoorbeeld kunnen denken aan ITM Power en Plug Power. Maar ik weet natuurlijk ook niet wie de winnaars gaan worden.

    thyssenkrupp Expands Production Capacities for Water Electrolysis

    Portfolio covers entire value chains for green chemicals, from hydrogen production to sustainable manufacture of ammonia, methanol, synthetic natural gas and fertilizers. Green hydrogen is gaining in importance worldwide as an energy carrier and CO2-free feedstock for the chemical industry. As a result, demand is rising for industrial electrolysis plants that can produce green hydrogen cost-efficiently. thyssenkrupp has significantly expanded its manufacturing capacities for such electrolysis plants and can now per year produce electrolysis cells with a total power consumption of up to one gigawatt, together with its strategic supplier and joint venture partner De Nora. These production capacities will be extended continuously in the future.

    Green hydrogen, produced by electrolysis using renewable electricity, is essential for a successful energy transition and for meeting international climate targets. Hydrogen is not only a clean energy carrier and fuel; it is also a CO2-neutral feedstock for the production of green chemicals. As a specialist in the engineering and construction of chemical plants, thyssenkrupp can already realize entire value chains, from the large-scale production of hydrogen to the subsequent manufacture of sustainable base chemicals such as ammonia and methanol. In corresponding industrial processes this makes it possible to dispense with fossil raw materials and reduce CO2 emissions directly at source.

    To simplify the construction of new hydrogen plants and keep costs down, thyssenkrupp offers its electrolyzers in prefabricated skid-mounted modules. One module produces 4,000 cubic meters of hydrogen per hour. The units are easy to transport and install and can be combined to realize projects of several hundred megawatts or gigawatts. Due to their high reaction speed, the plants can be operated flexibly; for the production of green hydrogen for industrial power-to-x applications as well as for grid stabilization.

    The patented design of the electrolysis cells, equipped with proprietary anodic and cathodic coatings developed by De Nora, allows high system efficiencies of up to 80 percent. It is based on leading electrolysis technologies from thyssenkrupp. So far, more than 600 projects and electrochemical plants worldwide with a total rating of over 10 gigawatts have been realized by the company.

    PowerCell signs MoU with ABB Power Grids regarding stationary fuel cell power solutions

    PowerCell Sweden AB has signed a memorandum of understanding with ABB Power Grids regarding a collaboration around fuel cell based zero emissions stationary power solutions. The aim of the cooperation is to leverage the companies’ existing technologies to jointly develop a complete solution for the market.
    A final agreement is expected to be reached within approximately 12 months

    Following the joint development and licensing agreement with Robert Bosch GmbH regarding the PowerCell S3 fuel cell stack for the automotive segment last year, PowerCell Sweden AB has made a review of its strategic prioritizations and decided to increase its focus on the stationary segment.

    “The MoU with ABB Power Grids is an important step and a great contribution to our increased efforts within the stationary segment. ABB Power Grids has a leading position and their knowledge, market position and global footprint make them an ideal partner within the stationary power segment”, Per Wassén, CEO of PowerCell Sweden said.

    “The new generation of our energy landscape will require energy sources that are not only able to meet the increasing demands but will also enable cleaner and safer electricity. We are excited to collaborate with Power Cell on driving the integration of fuel cell technology that will bring another vital part to reach a fully sustainable electrical landscape,” said Jenny Larsson, President ABB Power Grids Sweden AB.

    Een die enkel waterstof doet zal nog ff wachten zijn, als die er ooit komt.

    Laatst las ik nog een artikel over de slechte efficiëntie van waterstof tov andere brandstoffen.
    Heel anders dan dit artikel, kan het oude artikel even niet meer vinden.

    Gevoelsmatig zal die opwek ook wel door Shell etc worden opgepakt (en nu al). Terwijl er in de specialistische toepassingen misschien nog meer muziek zit. Maar ik ben hier niet goed in thuis.
    Ik had trouwens vandaag al in actie mogen komen in plaats van er zo lang over nadenken. Goeie dag vandaag voor waterstof!
    En wat denk je van marktleider Ballard?

    DUESSELDORF/FRANKFURT (Reuters) - Germany’s RWE plans to produce hydrogen from renewable energy to supply steelmaker Thyssenkrupp, the two companies told Reuters.

    The alliance between two of Germany’s heaviest polluters comes as Europe’s largest economy maps out a future without nuclear or coal power.

    RWE is currently heavily reliant on coal but is able to enter the hydrogen business due to changes to Germany’s laws as the government looks to boost hydrogen production.

    The planned cooperation between the two sector leaders is aimed at using green hydrogen, where the electricity used in the electrolysis that separates hydrogen from water comes from renewable sources.

    RWE plans to build a 100 megawatt hydrogen plant in the state of Lower Saxony to supply Thyssenkrupp’s steel operations in Duisburg by the middle of the decade, the companies said, responding to a Reuters request for comment.

    Steelmaking accounts for 7-9% of global emissions and has long been considered an ideal use case for hydrogen.

    The plant will be able to deliver 1.7 tonnes of hydrogen gas per hour, or about 70% of that required by a blast furnace which Thyssenkrupp plans to install, they said.

    This could produce 50,000 tonnes of climate-neutral steel per year, enough needed to make as many cars, they said.

    Thyssenkrupp produces 11 million tonnes of steel a year but the partnership would mark a start and reflects an industry-wide shift toward greener energy as rivals, including heavyweight ArcelorMittal, start to explore the technology.

    “Climate neutrality in the steel sector is possible and we’re accelerating the switch with regard to our production,” said Bernhard Osburg, CEO of Thyssenkrupp Steel Europe.

    Germany has committed 9 billion euros ($10.2 billion) to expand hydrogen capacity at home and abroad as part of a national strategy to make the country a key supplier of the technology worldwide.

    The companies said the partnership was dependent on the development of a hydrogen transport network.

    Roger Miesen, CEO of RWE’s Generation division, said the government’s strategy needed to be implemented fast to ensure an effective hydrogen expansion. “Investment decisions require planning certainty.”

    En wat denk je van marktleider Ballard?
    Je hebt gelijk dat grote bedrijven zoals Shell hun deel pakken. Aan de andere kant denk ik niet dat ze alles op eigen houtje zullen doen. Ik vergelijk het maar met automotive, daar hangt ook alles aan elkaar met samenwerkingsverbanden en toeleveranciers.

    Als je iets met auto's zoekt dan kun je eens kijken naar PowerCell Sweden AB. Als mijn informatie klopt is dit bedrijf ontstaan uit Volvo en hebben ze o.a. een licentieovereenkomst met Bosch. Ik heb voor een lijstje van 12 waterstofaandelen even heel hoog over wat financials naast elkaar gezet en PowerCell is de enige uit mijn lijstje die winst maakt. Die winst komt in de financiële rapportage op een manier tot stand die ik nog niet eerder heb gezien, maar daar kunnen we het nog een keer over hebben. Ik moet er wel bij vermelden dat er nog één bedrijf uit mijn lijstje is dat ook winst maakt, maar ik twijfel of dat een 'pure H2 play' is. Zij produceren tanks voor (bio)gas en ook voor waterstof, ik kwam de naam tegen en heb mij er verder niet in verdiept.

    Heb je als startpunt hier iets aan voor de positionering van Ballard?
