    Mondiale staalproductie blijft maar dalen

    Terugval Chinese staalproductie houdt aan in september.

    (ABM FN-Dow Jones) De mondiale staalproductie is in september opnieuw gedaald door een terugval in China. Dit bleek dinsdag uit cijfers van brancheorganisatie World Steel Association.

    In totaal produceerden de 71 staalproducerende landen vorige maand 143,6 miljoen ton staal, wat 4,7 procent minder was dan in september 2023.

    In augustus daalde de productie met 6,5 procent en in juli met 4,7 procent.

    In China, wereldwijd met afstand de grootste fabrikant van staal, daalde de productie in september met 6,1 procent naar 77,1 miljoen ton staal, na een dubbelcijferige krimp in augustus.

    Ook in Japan daalde de productie, maar in Zuid-Korea was er een kleine stijging van ruim een procent.

    In de Europese Unie was er een heel lichte productiestijging van 0,3 procent op jaarbasis en in de VS steeg de productie met 1,2 procent.
