InPost increases number of automated parcel machines in Poland by 50% in 2021

Dec 21 (Reuters) - Parcel locker provider InPost said on Tuesday that its network of automated parcel machines (APMs) grew more than 50% in its core Polish market this year.
The Polish company, which counts Amazon and Polish e-commerce firm Allegro among its customers, said it now has 16,000 parcel lockers in Poland, just on track to meet its guidance of 16,000-16,300 lockers by the end of 2021.
InPost gets most of its revenues from deliveries made to the lockers, or APMs, and this month introduced same-day delivery to 20 cities in Poland.
Like other delivery companies, InPost has benefited from a surge in online shopping during coronavirus lockdowns. It has expanded rapidly and since 2017 has more than quadrupled its network of parcel lockers - where customers can collect parcels rather than have them delivered to their homes.
The company also operates in the UK, where it recently stuck deals with eBay and British supermarket chain Tesco to install APMs near its stores ahead of the Christmas shopping season, aiming to have over 10,000 lockers in the UK by 2024. [nFWN2QV128]
InPost also completed is acquisition of French parcel delivery platform Mondial Relay in July as it seeks to expand beyond its home market where competition is intensifying.
"We'll be continuing to expand very vigorously in the coming years." InPost Chief Executive Rafal Brzoska said in a statement on its plans in France.
