    AllianceBernstein, een holdingvennootschap van de Franse verzekeringsgroep AXA bezit 3,71 procent van Fortis-holding. Dat blijkt uit een kennisgeving aan de toezichthouder CBFA en aan Fortis.

    AllianceBernstein - first notification
    New transparency legislation was introduced recently, requiring notifications made
    by investors to the Belgian regulator (CBFA – Banking, Finance and Insurance
    Commission) and to Fortis to be disclosed by Fortis as required.
    In this respect, Fortis announces that on 17 October, AllianceBernstein has notified
    having an interest in Fortis SA/NV of 3.71%, exceeding the threshold of 3%.
    AllianceBernstein is a holding company of the AXA group with participating interests in
    companies active in asset management and asset services for the account of third parties.
    AllianceBernstein together with these companies for whom this notification is done are
    acting independently from all other entities of the AXA group, according to the
    conditions mentioned in article 11 §2 of the Law of 2 May 2007.

    Confronted with a systemic financial crisis in 2008, Fortis has undergone a complete metamorphosis. Its
    banking and insurance activities have been acquired by the Dutch and Belgian States of which the non-Dutch
    activities will be acquired by BNP Paribas subsequently. Fortis Holding will henceforth include the
    international insurance activities, a 66% stake in a structured credit portfolio entity and financial assets and
    liabilities of the different financing vehicles.
    Fortis Insurance International is present in UK, France, Hong Kong, Luxembourg (Non-Life), Germany,
    Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and has joint-ventures in Luxembourg (Life), Portugal, China, Malaysia, India and
    Thailand. As of 30 June 2008, Fortis Insurance International had a total equity of EUR 1.6 billion and funds
    under management within consolidated companies in the Life business of EUR 21 billion.

    Fortis Insurance International is aanwezig in het Verenigd Koninkrijk, Frankrijk, Hongkong, Luxemburg (Niet-Leven), Duitsland, Turkije, Rusland, Oekraïne en heeft joint ventures in Luxemburg (Leven), Portugal, China, Maleisië, India en Thailand. Ultimo juni 2008 bedroeg het totaalvermogen van Fortis Insurance International EUR 1,6 miljard en werd in de geconsolideerde bedrijven in de tak Leven een vermogen van EUR 21 miljard beheerd.
