    Ging lekker gisteren met REX na de cijfers. PEIX blijft ook stijgen. Het ziet er weer eens mooi uit voor de ethanol sector :-)

    Ja, is een goed stuk geschreven door value1008 die ook op iHub veel post over PEIX. Hij adviseerde me laatst toen ik vroeg over REX en of zij hun kwartaalcijfers nog moesten posten. Dank zij hem heb ik REX gekocht. Hij heeft er echt een goede kijk op, maar was zelfs blij verrast door de cijfers die ze gepubliceerd hebben.

    Sacramento’s Pacific Ethanol whittles down debt

    Pacific Ethanol Inc. said Tuesday it has trimmed another $14.7 million in debt from its production plants, another step in the company’s comeback from a devastating slump.

    The Sacramento ethanol producer purchased $14.7 million worth of debt from a lender. Pacific Ethanol paid $17 million for the debt, a premium, although President and Chief Executive Neil Koehler said the lender agreed to a smaller premium than it was owed.

    By absorbing the debt into the parent company, Koehler said, Pacific Ethanol has effectively retired the loan. There’s now $20.5 million worth of debt left on the four production plants, down from nearly $300 million when the company nearly spun out of control in 2009.

    “We want to clean up the balance sheet once and for all and get it behind us,” Koehler said in an interview.

    In 2009, after ethanol prices collapsed, Pacific Ethanol ran short on cash and idled three of its four plants. All four plants were put into Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization. The bankruptcy case ended with lenders forgiving about $200 million in debt but taking controlling interest in the plants away from Pacific Ethanol.

    Since then, the ethanol market has recovered, the plants have resumed production, and Pacific Ethanol has gradually bought back controlling interest in the facilities. Today the company owns 91 percent of the equity in the plants.

    Pacific Ethanol pays off long-term loan to save $2M
    Pacific Ethanol restructured some of the debt on its ethanol plants to save $2 million a year.

    Pacific Ethanol Inc. announced Tuesday it restructured some of the debt on its ethanol plants.

    The company, which produces ethanol at four plants, entered into agreements with lenders to buy a total of $14.7 million in loans made to the company’s ethanol plants for a cash payment of $17 million.

    This move will lower the company’s annual interest expenses by $2 million.

    Sacramento-based Pacific Ethanol (NASDAQ: PEIX) says the $2.3 million premium paid on the face value of the loans still represents a 36 percent discount to the company, had it paid the loan premiums to maturity.

    Following the elimination of this plant debt, the company’s total long-term debt on the plants will total $20.5 million.

    Pacific Ethanol was launched in 2003, and borrowed $200 million to build ethanol plants in Oregon, Idaho, Stockton and Madera.

    The ethanol producer and marketer has been rebuilding its balance sheet since it put its four ethanol plants into bankruptcy in the spring of 2009, when corn prices spiked and ethanol demand fell. After the bankruptcy, Pacific Ethanol continued to manage and operate the ethanol plants.

    Over the years, it has been buying the ethanol plants back.

    Pacific Ethanol produces and sells low-carbon renewable fuels. The four ethanol production plants have a combined annual production capacity of 200 million gallons. It also sells ethanol to oil companies and gasoline marketers who blend ethanol into gasoline. It also sells byproducts as animal feed.

    Hopen dat ze weer eens boven de $14 kunnen sluiten. Volgende week vrijdag wordt het EPA besluit bekend gemaakt, het zou mooi zijn als ze voor dat moment al ergens tegen de $15 zitten.

    Had Rex ook ff 'voor de aardigheid' op $83 gezet, helemaal vergeten en was blij toen ik Rex dik boven de $83 zag staan, tot ik me realiseerde dat dat betekende dat ik eruit was :-)

    Maar goed, tis toch weer wat winst. Ik hoop dat er vandaag wat winstnemingen zijn en dan hoop ik rond $16,40 weer in PEIX te stappen of zo. En rond $82 weer in REX

    Ja, soms zijn die orders voor onbepaalde tijd, maar bij Binck verlopen ze na een paar maanden, wel handig maar soms ook niet ..... al weet je dat pas echt op LT natuurlijk! Maar goed, winst nu is geen verlies!!

    Ik was maar een half uurtje weg...hahaha
