    Nokia sold its handset-manufacturing unit to Microsoft for $7.2 billion and bought Siemens' stake in Nokia Solutions and Networks, or NSN, a specialist in mobile broadband formerly called Nokia Siemens Networks. This unit will account for almost 90% of Nokia's revenues.

    Following the Microsoft deal, analysts have been buzzing with speculation that the Finnish telecom will bid for Alcatel's wireless unit -- a move that would make NSN a much stronger player. Nokia is clearly chasing networking-equipment profits, making waves in the entire network infrastructure industry.

    Libya's LTT signs ADSL contract with Alcatel-Lucent

    Monday 23 September 2013
    Libyan telecommunications company LTT has signed a EUR 2.3 million contract with Alcatel-Lucent for the third stage of the development of ADSL-2 internet services in a number of locations in the country. Communications Minister Osama Siala said the project will dramatically increase the speed of internet services in Libya, the Libyan Herald reported. He said improving the telecommunications services was a national duty requiring the collective efforts of everyone at LTT.

    The project will provide 120,000 lines in places currently without such internet services, such as Sousa, Juba, Jardinah, Rigdaleen, Rahibat, Timmenhent, Samnu, Zighan, Al-Mayah, Abu-Issa, Tamzin, Jebel Owainat, Traghin and other locations.

    The scheme will take some nine months to complete, said chairman of LTT Abdel-Basset Senussi, but given the present security problems, fully working internet services would not necessarily be available immediately. Nonetheless, in spite of all the difficulties, the company was working hard to provide the best telecommunication services for everyone in the country, he said.

    SK telecom order voor Alcatel

    Alcatel-Lucent a annoncé mardi le déploiement d'un réseau d'accès mobile IP destiné à prendre en charge les services LTE-Advanced de SK Telecom, le principal opérateur mobile sud-coréen.

    La solution de 'backhauling' mobile IP/MPLS, qui doit être déployée au mois d'octobre, permettra de relier les différentes stations de base de SK, qui pourra ainsi assurer la transmission de données mobiles LTE-Advanced, LTE, WiBro (WiMAX) et Wi-Fi mobile.

    Dans le détail, Alcatel-Lucent prévoit de déployer son routeur de services 7750 SR, son système 5650 CPAM ainsi que son gestionnaire de services 5620 SAM.

    L'équipementier télécoms explique que ce projet s'inscrit dans le cadre de son programme stratégique 'Plan Shift', qui vise notamment à intensifier ses activités de plateformes IP.

    SK Telecom a lancé en juin dernier le premier service LTE-Advanced au monde, une technologie ultra-haut débit deux fois plus rapide que les réseaux LTE et jusqu'à 10 fois plus rapides que les réseaux 3G.

    Nee dat had ik wel gevonden via google. Maar toch bedankt.

    Ik kan geen info over deze deal vinden. Voor hoeveel neemt ZTE Services Duitsland het onderdeel Network Services Duitsland van Alcatel over etc.

    Het ziet ernaar uit dat Alcatel-Lucent ervan uitgaat dat het zichzelf in kleine stukjes verkopen meer zal opbrengen dan in z'n geheel.

    Though no talks between the companies have ensued yet, analysts think a pursuit of Alcatel-Lucent's mobile ad network makes sense for the Finnish company.

    ALCATEL-LUCENT : to upgrade Asia America Gateway submarine data link between Southeast Asia and the United States

    - Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) and Asia America Gateway, the cable system owned by a consortium of operators, have reaffirmed their cooperation with the signature of a contract to upgrade the Asia America Gateway (AAG) submarine cable system, covering the route from Philippines to the United States.

    By leveraging Alcatel-Lucent's advanced coherent technology, the 20,000km-long AAG system will add multi-terabit data capacity to cope with the rapid expansion of data traffic in countries along its route, while rapidly increasing its capability to meet cloud service requirements.

    Mr. Vito Pavone, Chairman of the AAG Management Committee said: "This new investment in additional capacity on the AAG system will further help to address the persistent demand for anywhere, anytime broadband access.     Alcatel says wins China Mobile 4G network order.

    PARIS (Reuters) - Alcatel-Lucent said on Monday that China Mobile Ltd had chosen its lightRadio small-cell technology for the nationwide roll-out of the world's biggest high-speed mobile broadband network.

    Telecoms equipment makers have been waiting for China Mobile's 4G work to lift the fortunes of an industry hit by a lack of spending worldwide.
    China is now the world's largest market for mobile data services and smartphones, increasing at a rate of more than 50 percent each year, Alcatel-Lucent said in a statement.

    Industry sources had told Reuters last month that China Mobile Ltd had awarded initial 4G contracts worth around 20 billion yuan ($3.2 billion), with Chinese firms securing more than half of it and foreign firms winning about a third.

    China Mobile has more than 750 million subscribers, which accounts for more than 60 percent of the total mobile subscriptions in the country.

    The Alcatel-Lucent award, whose financial terms were not disclosed, is 11 percent of China Mobile's strategic plan to deploy more than 207,000 TD-LTE base stations in China by the end of 2013.

    Was wederom mooi shortmoment boven de 2,70.
    De speeder short 2,78 geeft ook nog wat bescherming tegen een overname eventueel.
