   Ik kan geen Noors lezen, maar zie TomTom iphone app als best geteste navigatie app voor op de telefoon. Nu nog even een Android versie, voor op andere telefoons dan de iPhone.

   Volgens bronnen wil Google met het nieuwe systeem zijn advertentie-inkomsten verhogen. Het internetbedrijf krijgt met het betalingssysteem meer inzicht in het koopgedrag van consumenten. Google wil deze gegevens gebruiken om persoonlijke advertenties te tonen, bijvoorbeeld van kortingsacties van winkels uit de buurt.
   
   Als adverteerders aan deze manier van adverteren gaan wennen dan zit er voor TT ook meer in het vat....

   Can Garmin buy TomTom?

   TomTom enters into forward start agreement to put banking facilities in place until 2016
   
   Amsterdam, 1 April 2011 – TomTom, the world’s leading provider of location and navigation products and services, has signed a forward start facilities agreement comprising of a €250 million term loan facility and a €150 million revolving credit facility that will extend the maturity of the existing bank facilities that the company has in place. The new facilities will provide TomTom with financial resources for ongoing strategic and operational requirements beyond the term of the existing facilities. The facilities agreement start date is 31 December 2012 and it will mature on 31 March 2016.
   
   €75 million of the term loan is repayable on each of 31 December 2013 and 31 December 2014, with a final repayment of €100 million payable on 31 March 2016.
   
   The new syndicate of banks consists of ABN AMRO, ING, Rabobank International and Royal Bank of Scotland as Bookrunning Mandated Lead Arrangers and Banque LBLux, Deutsche Bank, Barclays Corporate and Morgan Stanley as Mandated Lead Arrangers.     ,,De daling in de verkoop is afgenomen van 20 procent in dezelfde periode vorig jaar tot 10 procent'', aldus Den Drijver. Ook beweegt de gemiddelde verkoopprijs in de goede richting, aangezien er relatief veel duurdere modellen zijn verkocht.
    
    Dit is volgens de SNS-analist een goed teken, aangezien Duitsland de meest volwassen markt in Europa is. Ook is de penetratie van smartphones er erg hoog.
    
    Coyote systems
    
    Daarnaast wijst Den Drijver op cijfers van Coyote systems, dat net als TomTom een waarschuwingssystemen levert voor snelheidscontroles. Het aantal vaste klanten is de afgelopen twee maanden met 100.000 gestegen tot 900.000. TomTom heeft een veel bekender merk en de dienst is goedkoper, merkt Den Drijver op. ,,Dit suggereert dat het gebruik van de TomTom Live-dienst beter kan zijn dan verwacht.''

    Gaat nog wel wat verder stijgen denk ik. En anders zullen we dit in de Q1 cijfers zien. Goede marges. Bovendien denk ik dat die kostengroei die we zo sterk in Q4 zagen, het komend kwartaal wel zullen meevallen. Waren vooral enorme marketing- en sales uitgaven rond kerst.

    Overall figures for 2010 confirm a trend that has been evident in the in-car electronics segment for some time: consumers are increasingly interested in devices which can be connected with music storage systems and the internet, and provide live updates of the latest information. Consequently, the demand for starter devices, which do not offer these functions, has noticeably declined. Although technically advanced products have contributed to a more stable average price on the overall market, both demand and sales have fallen on the whole because the more expensive devices were not able to compensate for the major decline in the cheaper starter product segment.

    Overall, the market for car radios in Germany is declining, with around 11% fewer unit sales in 2010 than in the prior year. The revenue generated per device decreased by 5% to EUR 101. However, the first two months of the current year give grounds for hope, as demand in January and February only dropped 4% year-on-year and, at EUR 98, the average price almost matched that of 2010.

    A comparable development emerges at the high-end of the portable navigation devices (PND) segment. An increase of 70% was recorded for devices that provide up-to-date information such as traffic, flight and weather reports on the move or that have a Google search function. The share of "connected PNDs” in overall portable navigation devices sales therefore increased from 5% to 10%. Rising popularity is also evident for computer graphics navigation support providing photographic images of motorway junctions, sights of interests, landscapes and cities. As a result, screens are increasing in size, and growth is evident in the segment with 5 inch displays in particular.
