    Les préoccupations entourant le secteur bancaire européen en cas de crise économique ne sont pas neuves. Si, depuis la crise financière de 2008, les banques de la zone euro ont réduit la proportion de créances douteuses dans leurs bilans, il en reste tout de même encore, en particulier dans les banques des pays les moins solides sur le plan économico-financier, comme la Grèce et l'Italie. C'est ce qui explique le retour récent de l'idée de créer une "bad bank" européenne pour soulager les banques de ces mauvais actifs.

    Les dirigeants des banques italiennes attendaient d'ailleurs vendredi avec une pointe d'inquiétude la nouvelle note que S&P devait octroyer en soirée à la dette publique de l'Italie. En effet, les bilans des institutions financières de la péninsule regorgent d'obligations du Trésor italien.

    Mais une note de Moody's, publiée ce vendredi, entretenait l'espoir. "Le profil de crédit du pays devrait rester globalement intact compte tenu de la nature temporaire du ralentissement et du maintien de coûts de financement réduits", indique cette autre agence de notation, qui se prononcera quant à elle sur la note de l'Italie en mai.

    Zeven op de tien ondernemingen kunnen na lockdown minstens helft activiteiten hervatten

    Zeven op de tien ondernemingen in België staan klaar om minstens de helft van hun activiteiten herop te starten eens ze daarvoor groen licht krijgen. Dat blijkt uit een nieuwe enquête bij ruim 3.500 ondernemingen en zelfstandigen in opdracht van de Economic Risk Management Group (ERMG).

    Er zijn verschillende redenen waarom de honderd procent niet mogelijk is, gaande van een zwakke vraag of onvoldoende bevoorrading van goederen of grondstoffen, tot moeilijkheden om de regels van social distancing toe te passen of onbeschikbare werknemers. Toch acht een derde van de ondervraagde ondernemingen zich in staat de activiteit op vrijwel hetzelfde niveau als voorheen te hervatten. En vijf procent is zelfs van mening dat ze op het einde van de beperkende maatregelen een hoger activiteitsniveau kunnen hebben dan voor de coronacrisis.
    De ERMG publiceert voor de vierde week op rij de resultaten van een enquête uitgevoerd door werkgeversfederaties BECI, NSZ, Unizo, UWE en Voka. Net als de voorbije weken rapporteren de ondernemingen een omzetdaling van ongeveer een derde. Wel is er een stevige verbetering in de handel (van 64 procent minder omzet naar 43 procent), hoogstwaarschijnlijk omdat vanaf 18 april extra winkels de deuren mochten openen, zoals doe-het-zelfzaken.

    Chinese wetenschappers hebben een vaccin klaar dat apen beschermt tegen het nieuwe coronavirus. En dat is niet alleen goed nieuws voor de apen.
