    Hier geloof ik dan niet in. Want dan kan je het dus ook makkelijk stelen. Plus er is geen controle voor overheden en zal dus nooit de wettelijke rechtszekerheid krijgen die je nodig hebt.

    The founders of Ripple, by contrast, created all 100 billion of the XRP tokens at once in 2011. They sell the coins periodically and have distributed many to insiders. In fact, more than half the XRP that will ever exist are still owned by Ripple.

    All the transactions recorded on the XRP blockchain are confirmed using a consensus system comprising groups of validators that analyze the network's transactions. Those validators, or nodes, are in turn organized into groups that trust each other called UNLs, or “unique node lists.” While validators get to choose their own UNL, the list assembled by Ripple is the default, creating a possible area of centralization.

    - Internationale betalingen in een paar seconden, in plaats van een dag of 3.
    - kostenbesparingen bij banken en financiele instellingen
    - en de belangrijkste: met xrp kunnen betalingen direct 'gesettled' worden, waardoor de banken geen nostro/vostro rekeningen aan hoeven te houden in diverse valuta (daar zit nu ca. 27 biljoen USD vast, wat dan gedeeltelijk vrij zou kunnen komen)

    ja, ik snap de technische voordelen uit het verhaal. Maar hoe gaat het verdien model eruit zien. Want kennelijk is er Ripple. Die zal de transactiekosten krijgen voor het systeem dat ze leveren waar dan de cryptocurrency xrp wordt gebruikt. Dus dan wordt de munt zelf slechts een ruilmiddel net als de dollar. Nou niemand wordt rijk door dollars te kopen en in zijn sok te bewaren.

    Ripple krijgt verkoopt inderdaad hun software producten en bijbehorende diensten.

    Waar het om gaat is dat er nooit meer xrp zal zijn dan nu (iets <100 Miljard) en dit loopt mede door de transactiekosten langzaam terug.
    Hoe meer xrp zal worden gebruikt, zullen de bedragen die wereldwijd op en neer geschoven worden steeds groter worden, dit zal met een hogere xrp prijs beter gaan.
    Verder is dus het idee dat nostro en vostro rekeningen in diverse valuta niet meer nodig zijn. In theorie hoeft een bedrijf enkel een voorraadje xrp aan te houden die op elk gewenst moment in de gewenste valuta gewisseld kan worden.

    Verder is Ripple druk bezig om initiatieven buiten Ripple om op het xrp netwerk te stimuleren (Xpring) en ook de voormalige CTO van Ripple heeft Coil opgericht, wat op een andere manier weer gebruik gaat maken van het netwerk.

    Kortom, hoe meer het gebruikt gaat worden, hoe hoger de koers zal zijn.

    P.S. Ik zie het zelf ook als een mooie inflatie hedge, zelfs t.o.v. van de EUR of USD, aangezien de voorraad xrp dus deflationair is. Het kan dus ook een soort store of value worden, zoals BTC op dit moment gezien wordt.
