    Kremlin: “Oekraïne moet annexaties erkennen vooraleer we over vrede kunnen praten”

    Vooraleer Rusland en Oekraïne aan de onderhandelingstafel kunnen gaan zitten, moet Oekraïne de regio’s die Rusland na schijnreferenda heeft geannexeerd erkennen. Dat heeft de woordvoerder van het Kremlin, Dmitri Peskov, duidelijk gemaakt. “De Oekraïners moeten rekening houden met de realiteit die zich ter plaatse heeft ontwikkeld”, aldus Peskov.

    De uitspraken van de Kremlin-woordvoerder zijn een reactie op het voorstel van de Oekraïense president Volodymyr Zelensky om een “wereldvredetop” te organiseren. Daarmee wil Zelensky “beslissen hoe en wanneer de punten van de Oekraïense vredesformule kunnen worden uitgevoerd”.

    Voor Moskou ligt vrede daarentegen nog lang niet in het verschiet. “De Russische Federatie bezit nieuwe gebieden als gevolg van referenda die daar hebben plaatsgevonden”, zei Peskov. Volgens de woordvoerder is het bijgevolg onmogelijk om diplomatieke vooruitgang te boeken vooraleer Kiev die geannexeerde regio’s erkent.

    “Troepen niet voor kerst terugtrekken”
    Eind september lijfde Rusland de Oekraïense regio’s Loehansk, Donetsk, Zaporizja en Cherson in. In 2014 annexeerde Moskou ook al het schiereiland de Krim. De internationale gemeenschap erkent de annexaties niet. Oekraïne eist bovendien dat Rusland alle bezette gebieden teruggeeft.

    Peskov benadrukte alvast dat het “uitgesloten” is dat Rusland zijn troepen voor Kerstmis uit Oekraïne zal terugtrekken. Die eis stelde Zelensky maandag tijdens een toespraak op een bijeenkomst van de G7-landen.

    Instructeur Russisch leger smeekt om betere uitrusting: ’Soldaten zijn hier bijna naakt’ 

    Een instructeur van het Russische leger heeft uit wanhoop een video gedeeld waarin hij smeekt om meer uitrusting en medicijnen voor zijn soldaten.

    "Ik ben een gevechtsinstructeur van het 247e regiment, in de stad Stavropol. Ik wil graag een beroep doen op de gouverneur van de regio Kemerovo: Sergei Yevgenyevich", zegt hij in de video.

    "De soldaten die je hierheen stuurt zijn bijna naakt en hebben geen medicijnen", vervolgt de instructeur. "Daarnaast zijn ze amper beschermd en hebben ze het ijskoud." Hij roep de gouverneur op hen te helpen. 

    De clip werd gedeeld op Twitter door Dmitri van WarTranslated, een onafhankelijk project dat materiaal over de oorlog in het Engels vertaalt. De video is al duizenden keren bekeken. 

    Uitrusting

    Dat het Russische leger worstelt met een tekort aan materiaal, is al langer bekend. Tienduizenden gemobiliseerden zouden hun kleding, vesten en helmen zelf moeten kopen en de wapens zouden bijna op zijn.

    FDP-defensiepoliticus Strack-Zimmermann bevestigt dat er meer wapens aan Oekraïne zullen worden geleverd - en wil dat "Leopard 2" -tanks volgen.

    Volgens FDP-defensiedeskundige Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann heeft Duitsland meer zelfrijdende houwitsers aan Oekraïne geleverd. "Er zijn meer zelfrijdende houwitsers geleverd, nu 24 stuks", zei de voorzitter van de Defensiecommissie maandag in de Bondsdag in het programma "RTL Direkt". Bovendien zou Oekraïne worden voorzien van zes tot zeven luchtafweertanks van het type "Gepard".

    Op de vraag of de Duitse hoofdgevechtstank "Leopard 2" ook ter beschikking moet worden gesteld aan de Oekraïners, zei Strack-Zimmermann: "Het zou dringend nodig zijn. Er is geen reden meer om het niet te doen."

    In Russia, the Zvezda factory, a manufacturer of engines for the fleet, was on fire

    A fire occurred in a building on the territory of the Zvezda machine-building factory in Saint Petersburg. It produces diesel engines, including those for the Russian Navy.

    The fire spread over an area of up to 200 square meters.

    Russian media reported this with reference to local rescuers.

    “There is a fire on an area of 200 square meters in a two-story building measuring 50 by 100 m,” the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the region reported.

    Seven units of equipment and 35 people were deployed to extinguish the fire.

    No information on the victims of the fire is yet available. The causes of the fire are currently being established.

    The fire was reported at 06:38 am Moscow time, and at 08:53 am, emergency services announced the localization of the fire.

    On the morning of December 13, the press service of the Zvezda factory reported that there allegedly were no extraordinary incidents on the territory of the enterprise. They claim that a building that has nothing to do with the plant was on fire in the industrial zone.

    Zvezda factory was founded in 1932. Since 1945, the enterprise has specialized in the production of high-speed diesel engines and units based on them with a capacity of 500 to 7400 kW.

    The enterprise also produces engines for warships and railway transport, as well as diesel generators and industrial units.

    As previously reported, on November 30, an oil storage tank is on fire in the Bryansk region of the Russian Federation. The fire occurred in the Surazh district of the region. The area on fire is 1,800 square meters.

    Ukrainian Troops May Be Massing For Their Fourth Counteroffensive. Russian Artillery Is Already Trying To Stop Them.

    Russian and Ukrainian forces recently swapped artillery around Hulyaipole and Polohy in southern Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia Oblast, 65 miles northeast of Russian-occupied Melitopol.

    Artillery-on-artillery “counterbattery” battles aren’t uncommon as Russia’s wider war on Ukraine grinds into its 10th month.

    What’s special about the Dec. 9 artillery duel is what reportedly instigated it. According to Russian sources, the Ukrainian army is massing mechanized forces around Hulyaipole.

    If that’s true, it could be a sign that Ukraine’s fourth counteroffensive might be imminent, despite the onset of winter. This widely-anticipated attack—the Zaporizhzhia left hook—would aim to liberate much of southern Ukraine and push Ukrainian troops all the way to the narrow neck of land connecting mainland Ukraine to the Crimean Peninsula, which Russian forces seized in 2014.

    Russian troops at present are thin on the ground in Zaporizhzhia. But then, so are Ukrainian troops. The sector along the Hulyaipole-Polohy axis since this spring has been the haunt of separate brigade-size Russian and Ukrainian units.

    On the Russian side: the 291st Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment, which on paper has a couple thousand soldiers and scores of armored vehicles.

    On the Ukrainian side: the 106th Territorial Defense Brigade, a lightly-equipped formation with a few thousand volunteers from the local area. The 19th Separate Rifle Battalion, a 400-strong active-army unit, reinforces the territorial brigade.

    Both sides have supporting artillery. Both sides harass the other. The Institute for the Study of War in Washington, D.C. on Dec. 7 noted “routine artillery and missile strikes west of Hulyaipole.”

    It was these big guns and rockets that traded fire on Dec. 9. The skirmish began when “the movement of large mechanized forces of the armed forces of Ukraine near the front was revealed by Russian intelligence,” Igor Girkin, a pro-Russian separatist leader, wrote on social media.

    The intel prompted “massive artillery strikes on enemy positions and near rear areas in the Hulyaipole ... region,” Girkin added. Ukrainain artillery in return struck Polohy.

    It’s unclear what Ukrainian mechanized forces may have moved into Hulyaipole in possible anticipation of an offensive toward Melitopol. The 65th Mechanized Brigade is nearby, as is the 1st Tank Brigade.

    Meestal gaan de Russische soldaten auto's stelen wanneer het moment van de terug tocht niet ver is ( dan beschikken zij over snelle vluchtwagens )
    Kan ook zijn dat Russische gedetineerden als gemobiliseerden naar het front zijn gekomen en wagens stelen hun specialiteit was tijdens hun criminele leven in Rusland
