seekingalpha.com/news/3382417-nio-bla...While there's all kinds of Chinese automakers with big plans for the EV market, upstart NIO appears to be a name that could break out of the pack.
NIO is already backed by Tencent,
Baidu, hedge fund Lone Pine Capital, Chinese investment firm CITIC Capital and Scottish fund manager Baillie Gifford through early funding rounds.
Nio's chief development officer, Padmasree Warrior, is on the boards of directors of Microsoft and Spotify.
NIO's F-1 filing shows the company is burning through cash at a high rate and needs the equity infusion, although some analysts still see value with the company's advanced auto tech and
autonomous driving R&D programs drawing notice.
Its Pilot technology, which includes automatic emergency breaking and other features, is available inside the ES8 vehicle, and Nio is one of 55 companies with permission to test autonomous vehicles on California public roads.
"Now that shorts missed the Tesla boat for the past 8 years, they should invest into this NIO to not miss it again."
"China has the skill set, manufacturing power, and the basic cost structure to reverse engineer and mass produce Tesla clones for a third the cost, and make big profits selling them for half the price. They can also become a global low-cost supplier for batteries and motors and other commodities for the other automakers who wish to jump into the EV market, and are simply waiting for the supplier base to mature."
"The Nio EP9 looks very cool and is the fastest EV car. Said to accelerate from 0-200kph in 7.1s. I don't have stats on the Tesla or any other models. But EP9 does look like a super sport car."Te koop op de NYSE. Het aandeel, niet die sportcar...
