   ‘That’s one way to get rid of your premium!’ quipped Stifel analyst Sachin Saggar as BH Macro (BHMG) tumbled 10% in response to last Friday’s shock demand from fund manager Brevan Howard that its annual management fee on the investment company and its sister BH Global (BHGG) double. The fall saw the shares drop from a 9% premium over NAV to a 2% discount. The less highly-rated BHGG fell 6% with its 2.6% discount widen slightly to 3.7%.
   
   Saggar, who upgraded BHGG to ‘positive’ and BHMG to ’neutral’, had some sympathy with Brevan Howard wishing to reverse earlier cuts in its fee following a barnstorming performance in last year’s pandemic crisis. However, he said the aggressive ultimatum of pay-up-or-wind-up was regrettable given the London-listed funds had effectively served as a lifeline for the fund manager during a difficult period of performance when other investors pulled out of its funds.
   
   The analyst concluded shareholders would probably have to reluctantly accept the terms proposed as the funds had proven their worth in 2020 and there were no other alternatives. ‘Unfortunately, the negotiating leverage rests with the manager and not shareholders in our view,’ he said.
   
   One way to cut costs and improve liquidity in the shares, he suggested, would be to merge the two companies, saying BHGG was not sufficiently differentiated from BHMG.

   Ik zag het van de week. Wel een paniek om niks. Kosten gaan weer terug naar oude niveau en stijgt met 1%.
   Toevallig de week ervoor BHMU verkocht met een 10% premium tov NAV. En na dit nieuws weer ingestapt op NAV.
   
   Het samenvoegen van alle varianten is trouwens best een goed idee van Sagger.

   Bij ING zijn mijn E-5 stukken vorige week omgewisseld voor de B-5 versie. Geen idee wat de reden exact is. 0,01% goedkoper per jaar, dus ik vind het prima. haha.
