Het TomTom persbericht: Het druipt er vanaf mijn waarde:
TomTom (TOM2), a global leader in navigation products, and Qualcomm Technologies Inc., a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), today announced a new project to
crowdsource high-definition map data. TomTom’s HD Map for autonomous vehicles will now
benefit from a richer set of data due to Qualcomm Technologies offering a new chip to be used in car sensors.
Qualcomm Technologies’ Drive Data is a platform for car sensor analysis which delivers, among other things,
map snippets based on camera input. TomTom’s HD Map,
including RoadDNA, helps autonomous vehicles precisely locate themselves on the road and plan manoeuvres.
TomTom’s HD Map can use the Qualcomm map snippets for maintenance.
Willem Strijbosch, Head of Autonomous Driving, TomTom, said: “We are building the cloud-based platform to
make and maintain HD maps using a range of input sources, including
crowdsourced data.
Ze hebben het constant over crowd-sourced en RoadDNA. Het gaat niet over een lane-detection of verkeersbord. Ik denk dat het voor de gemiddelde lezer niet duidelijker hoeft!
