After record profits in 2007, TomTom hit a bump in the road by the end of 2008. The economic downturn and the introduction of maps on smartphones forced TomTom to reassess their route. The answer? Diversification. Last year alone, TomTom announced seven new consumer products including fitness wearables and HD mapping for Autonomous Driving.
One of the founders back in 1991 and still at the helm, Corinne Vigreux reviews the TomTom journey to date, discusses how they were able to diversify their offering, and outlines what new innovations the company is working on.
