    Het blijft toch frapant. Saab/Victor Muller roept constant: "Saab's worden als zoete broodjes verkocht"

    "We kunnen de vraag niet aan"
    "De bottleneck is het opstarten van de productie"
    "De registraties zijn zo laag omdat we niet genoeg kunnen produceren"
    "We willen een tweede productieshift invoeren"
    Etc etc etc...

    Waarom, waarom, waarom ontsla je dan productiemedewerkers??? Als we Saab/Victor Muller mogen geloven is de vraag naar Saab's overweldigend en kunnen ze niet snel genoeg meer auto's gaan bouwen. Maar wat doet Saab? Ze flikkeren productiepersoneel op straat...

    Voor mij geen verrassing, maar voor de dromers hier op het forum zal dit ongetwijfeld als een nare wakeup call komen.

    ja en volgend jaar gaan ze er 55.000 meer bouwen dan dit jaar (85.000 vs 30.000) dus dan ontsla je 200 man op 22 december. Is logisch toch.

    The 9-4X and the Cadillac SRX share engines, components and a front-wheel-drive vehicle platform. All-wheel drive is available.

    What separates the two crossovers is styling and suspension tuning. The 9-4X will be assembled in the same GM factory in Ramos Arizpe, Mexico as the SRX.

    U.S. sales of the 9-4X will begin in May, followed by shipments to Europe, Australia, Taiwan and the Middle East starting in August.

    The base U.S. fwd 9-4X has a sticker of $34,205, including freight. The Aero model has a sticker of $48,835. The base Cadillac SRX stickers for $34,705 including freight. Standard and optional equipment differ.

    “It is the perfect car for the U.S. market,” said Mike Colleran, Saab Cars North America president and COO. “We need a crossover utility, and we need one that fits the Saab brand and what our customers expect from us. They expect innovation and some Scandinavian feel.

    “This car brings a great deal of our traditional cue lines that frankly we couldn't get in the 9-7X,” Colleran said. The 9-7X was based on the Chevrolet TrailBlazer. That vehicle is no longer offered.

    Saab is targeting Audi Q5 and BMW X3 shoppers.

    Two V-6 engines are offered, each teamed with a six-speed automatic transmission: a 265-hp 3.0-liter with direct fuel injection and variable valve timing; and a 300-hp 2.8-liter with direct injection and twin-scroll turbocharging.

    There are no plans to offer the vehicle globally with a diesel engine.

    The 9-4X will expand Saab's model line to three vehicles, including the 9-3 and 9-5.

    This is the second new product launched by Saab since Spyker Cars NV purchased the company from GM in February. The redesigned 9-5 went on sale in the summer.
    Grappig, Victor Muller had het een paar dagen geleden nog over een productie van 15.000-20.000 stuks op jaarbasis. Dat is dus alweer naar beneden bijgesteld.

    Het streven van 9.500 auto's op jaarbasis in de VS is toch wel fors te noemen. Maar in 2008 wist Saab ook nog zo'n 20.000 auto's te slijten in de VS, dus misschien lukt het ze wel. Cadillac heeft dit jaar in elk geval al 41.153 stuks van de SRX (zustermodel van de 9-4X) weten te slijten in de VS.

    Victor Muller, Saab’s chairman, said, “You need to get to a volume of 10,000 cars (in China) before you can start manufacturing locally.”

    While the U.S version of the 9-4X model goes into production in April, 9-4X models for markets outside of North America will be built starting in August.

    Jonsson said it is unlikely that a diesel engine will be offered in the 9-4X. Diesel engines are offered in Saab’s other vehicles sold outside the United States.

    “If you then look at the life cycle of the vehicle, typically five or six years, before we actually have a diesel engine, we have to find one, we have to test it, we have to install it, validate it, and you are two years into the life cycle.

    “And then you have a very short payoff period,” Jonsson said. “So I think it is unlikely.”

    Tot enige tijd geleden riep Saab dat de 9-4X in juni in Europa zou arriveren. Zal dus nu op zijn vroegst oktober worden. Het boottochtje van Mexico naar Europa zal namelijk zeker een week of 8 in beslag nemen.

    Drie diesels in Saab 9-3 modeljaar 2011

    Nog steeds is de 9-3 als Sport Sedan, Sport Estate en Cabriolet te koop.

    Saab heeft voor modeljaar 2011 bij de 9-3 een aantal wijzigingen doorgevoerd. Die hebben betrekking op de Sport Sedan, maar ook de Sport Estate en de Cabriolet. Belangrijkste verandering is de komst van verbeterde 1.9 TTiD dieselmotoren.

    Aren’t they tired of this?

    I did a phone interview with TV4 in Sweden today and Jonas Strömberg, the guy on the other end of the phone, asked me what I thought Saab had to do to be successful.

    My answer: I thought Saab were doing what they need to be successful. They were building new products. They were innovating. If there’s one thing that wasn’t getting done as well as it needed to be, it was cutting through the negative messages and letting people know about it. I added that the press could be a bit fairer about this – Saab released an all new vehicle last week and yet the main story in the Swedish press was the fate of 200 workers who were temporary employees. Yes, it was sad for them that their contracts won’t be extended in the near term, but it’s about managing your workforce for your needs and I’m sure when things pick up again that they’ll be amongst the first re-hired.

    It’s relentlessly frustrating to watch the press in Sweden focus on the negatives of Saab’s situation. They’ve worked miracles over the last nine months.

    With Jan-Ake Jonsson appearing at a business presentation yesterday, it was little surprise that the questions asked were about the negatives surrounding Saab. Once again Jan-Ake Jonsson found himself having to talk sense and make some lemonade out of the lemons handed to him by the corps present.

    The article is from the Swedish News Agency (TT) that has been in many of the morning dailies in Sweden today. It is a negative article judging from the questions asked, and the conclusions made by the journalist, however there are some positive things between the lines

    Some conclusions:

    - JAJ is less optimistic then a few months ago regarding sales, no news.

    - There is no doubt in his mind that they will not run out of money

    - They seem to be able to further reduce cost and make the operations more efficient

    - There are 65-67 different projects in SAAB funded by the loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB), would be interesting to know what that could be… do not think that they allow themselves to work on something that they can not sell to other car manufacturers or put into production.

    Saab Forced to Hard Savings

    Saab Automobile Managing Director Jan Åke Jonsson defend that around 220 employees do not get their contracts extended.

    “It is a strength that we were anticipating that we took them as temporary,” he says.

    The cracked sales projections have forced Saab to tighten their belts.

    With sales that point to be half the size of what management thought in the spring, Saab has pushed costs considerably explained Jonsson after he talked at “Share and Mutual Fund Day” in Gothenburg on Monday.

    “We have lower production costs, we have streamlined the development activities and so we have had some benefits of currencies.”

    Saab still has money from when the company sold tools to the Chinese BAIC and the EIB loan makes the coffins well filled. But the loan may not go into operation.

    “It does not. The money is used for 65-67 projects as a consultant, selected by the EIB, going through each quarter,” says Jan Åke Jonsson.

    A scenario in which SAAB run out of money does not exist in his world.

    “We will continue to operate. If you foresee that you need more money, or if you see that the result is worse, you set priorities. You do not run the company so that you run out of money,” he observes, and is noticeably irritated by the questions.

    While production in Trollhättan is adapted to a demand of that is believed to be at 30,000-35,000 cars assesses Jonsson that the volume next year to reach 70,000. A further 10,000 Saabs will be manufactured in Mexico.

    As recently as in September the CEO was talking of the plans for a second shift to handle the increase in volume. Now he is secretive and open to continue to run one shift. If we agree with employees and unions.

    “Exactly how we solve it, I am not prepared to discuss. This is something we have in our toolbox, how we should go up in volume when there are new cars.”

    En bij Saab doen ze juist het tegenovergestelde... Het ligt dus niet aan de markt voor luxe auto's, maar puur aan de vraag naar Saab's.
    Goedemiddag AX lover, Saab zit dan ook in een andere positie ....... er moet vertrouwen worden herwonnen en dat is een moeilijke klus.
    U moet dat eens vergelijken met het gegeven dat o.a. MB goed 2 jaar geleden de afzet van de premium modellen zag instorten en nu kunnen ze nauwelijks aan de vraag vanuit China voldoen.

    Saab, which is owned by Spyker Cars NV, lowered its production target of 60,000 cars to between 30,000 and 35,000, the magazine said. The carmaker sold 17,965 vehicles through September, Focus said.

    In announcing his decision Hänggi said: “They offered me an opportunity that can not ignore. I deeply regret, however, to leave Saab. I have worked for more than ten years in various national and international positions with great joy for the Saab brand. “

    Saab heeft allerlaagste Brand Loyalty van alle automerken in de Verenigde Staten. Het gerenomeerde J.D. Power and Associates heeft de resultaten bekend gemaakt van hun jaarlijkse "Customer Retention Study" en Saab staat stijf onderaan. De gemiddelde score is 48%, Saab scoort echter... 4%!!!

    Jaguar staat een plaatsje boven Saab en scoort 16%, dat toont denk ik wel aan dat Saab echt stijf onderaan staat. Bekijk het hele onderzoek hier:

    Saab has reduced its breakeven point dramatically since GM sold it early this year, the Swedish automaker's CEO said Thursday.

    Thanks to a combination of cost cutting and new models, CEO Victor Muller promises Saab, whose North American headquarters is in Royal Oak, will turn a profit at global sales of 80,000 to 85,000 vehicles a year by 2012. Saab's current breakeven point is 105,000, sales, down from 130,000 when GM owned the company, he said.

    Saab will be profitable in 2012, Muller told journalists late Thursday.

    Saab's sales are disastrously low this year, largely because GM stopped building cars and began to liquidate the company when it appeared no one would buy the boutique Swedish brand. Saab sold just 4,371 vehicles in the United States through November.

    Muller expects Saab's worldwide sales to hit 80,000 next year, when it has plenty of units of its new 9-5 sedan and station wagon and 9-4X crossover to sell. The 2011 9-5 sedan is just reaching U.S. dealers. The 9-4X goes on sale in May.

    Muller expects the U.S. to account for about a quarter of Saab's global sales in the future.
